What piece would you recommend for an orchestra audition (violin)?

Nobody cares if YOU want to choose something *harder* than these. The committee cares that you play well. The world is full of slobs who choose some warhorse, and then destroy it with poor technique and poor musicianship. I hear hundreds of students every year at NYSSMA/All-State, and sadly there are many who grab a piece of music, and then proceed top hack their way thru it as if it were the Amazon jungle. Chose something off the list, and work your butt off. Good luck.
