Is my leopard gecko getting ready to shed or is he ill?

If he looks lighter/whiter and the skin around the neck doesn't look like its attached and has another layer underneath he could very well be shedding. Put a hide with a layer of damp paper towels in his enclosure on the warm end of the enclosure and check him tomorrow. If he doesn't look lighter or like his skin's not attached it could be another problem
