What is this crazy looking plant?

Got a crazy looking houseplant today, it's got leaves with what look like leaves growing off of it! Don't know what it is, got it from a guy that had a bunch of bamboo, but didn't get a chance to ask him what it was. The (trunk?) is notched, has pink flowers, and the leaves look like they have leaves growing on the edges. Anyone know what it is? I'd post a picture, but I don't have a camera available, so I hope the description helps
