Are Catholics allowed to support the Jewish state of Israel?

Pope Pius X was asked by Theodore Herzl (recognized founder of Christian Zionism) to support the Jewish state and he answered: “The Jews have not recognized our Lord, therefore we cannot recognize the Jewish people.” (Pope St. Pius X to Zionist leader Theodore Herzl January 1904)
