Why do people hate front wheel drive so much?

My friend wrecked his 1996 Chevy Caprice so I took him to some dealers to look at new cars. We went to pretty much every dealer in town and he couldn't find 1 new 4 door car he liked. He said he won't buy any car that isn't a v8, body on frame, and rwd. He ended up settling on a 4 door Chevy Silverado pickup. Why do so many people hate front wheel drive??
