What's the best kind of old school (donk) to get?

I'm in the process of getting my first car and yes I want an old school donk , something I can mount up and put a fresh wet paint job on it and I can decide what kind to get , mostly I'm seeing crown vics or grand marquis's but I want something like a chevy maybe a monte carlo ss or ls , a caprice box chevy or maybe even a round body caprice...any suggestions?
